How To Auto Login With GNOME 3 in Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot
The default login session for Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot is Unity. With so many issues with Unity, gnome-shell Gnome 3 desktop is being preferred and installed by many Ubuntu users. In order to make Gnome 3 desktop the default login session in Ubuntu 11.10, you have to disable auto-login from Unity, log out, log back in via Gnome and enable auto login.
