Ubuntu GNOME Shell Remix 11.10 – A Unity Free Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot

Ubuntu GNOME Shell Remix 11.10 is a new Ubuntu based operating system created by Jan Hoffman as  a remix of Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot set up with GNOME Shell 3.2  but without the Unity. It is an unofficial release. All Ubuntu users fade up with Ubuntu 11.10′s Unity issues can find it useful as this new GNOME 3 distro provides most of the Ubuntu 11.10 features without having to deal with Unity UI.

Ubuntu GNOME Shell Remix 11.10 is available for both 32-bit and 64-bit system architectures. You can download the ISO files for 32-bit (836.6 MB) and 64-bit (854.9 MB) from the download link given at the end of the post.

Ubuntu GNOME Shell Remix 11.10 comes with applications such as New boot slash screen , Mozilla Firefox Web browser, Shotwell Photo Manager , Banshee music player and organizer and so on. You can access the official Ubuntu software repositories and install various apps like in Ubuntu 11.10 using Ubuntu Software Center.

In Ubuntu GNOME Shell Remix 11.10 also , you have the options either to use GNOME 3 gnome shell desktop session or  GNOME classic desktop session.
