When you right click on any files  or folders in Windows , you can view the Delete command in the context menu. The Delete command is used to delete the files and folders in Windows which are eventually moved to the Recycle Bin.

In Ubuntu , we have Move To Trash command in the right click context menu with the similar functionality. Files and folders can be deleted and moved to Trash in Ubuntu easily with this command.

Like in Windows  , we can also have the Delete command in the right click context menu in Ubuntu. But the Delete command for Ubuntu just bypasses the trash when any file or folder is deleted using it.  The  files and folders deleted using Delete command in Ubuntu are never moved to the Trash. So, they are permanently deleted.

In this post, we will show you how to integrate Delete command in the context menu in Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot.

At first , open your Home Folder (Nautilus)  and click on Edit -> Preferences as shown below.

File Management Preferences dialog opens up and under its Behavior tab , navigate to Trash section. Then check on the Include a Delete command that bypasses Trash.

Once done , close the dialog and right-click the files or folders that  you want to delete. You can see the Delete command appearing in that right-click context menu.
